How walk-ins are booked
There is no separate walk-in wizard. A patient who arrives without an appointment is booked in the New appointment dialog, like a phone booking, with Booked by: Walk-in on the last step. The booking is then recorded as a walk-in.
When to use it
A patient arrives without an appointment and wants to be seen today
A family arrives together and each person needs a service
Opening the dialog
Dashboard: the New Appointment card ("Book or walk-in")
Header: the calendar-plus button at the top right of any page
Appointments or Pharmacy calendar: click an empty time today, and that time is already chosen
If the card or button is greyed out with "Booking disabled", staff booking is switched off for your pharmacy. Head office controls this setting; ask them to turn it back on.
The three steps
The Booking rail on the right of the dialog shows where you are:
Patient and services: the patient's details, any family members, the services, and the eligibility and screening questions read to the patient
Time: today's next open start time, and a pharmacist if the patient asks for one
Contact and consent: email or phone, Booked by: Walk-in, the privacy notice and consent read to the patient, and what the patient will receive
There is no review step: the rail keeps a summary of every finished step, and you confirm from the last one. The done screen shows the confirmation code to give the patient.
Walk-in compared with a phone booking
Same dialog, same rules: eligibility, screening, consent and the store's open times apply the same way.
Booked by: choose Walk-in instead of Phone. It is recorded on the booking.
The time: pick the next open time today. Earlier times today are not offered, and a time that is full cannot be booked.
